Spell checking

iA Writer Pro for Mac uses OS X’s built-in spell checker. This can check documents in multiple languages, and also check grammar.

Open iA Writer Pro

Check your spelling
  • In iA Writer Pro, select Edit ➤ Spelling and Grammar ➤ Check Document now.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the document, then select Spelling and Grammar ➤ Check Document now in the popup menu.
Automatically check your spelling

In iA Writer Pro, select Edit ➤ Spelling and Grammar ➤ Check Spelling While Typing.

This will add a red underline to potentially misspelled words. Right-click (or Control-click) on the word to correct it.

For extra options, see System Preferences ➤ Language & Text ➤ Text. You can specify smart quote styles, and also add snippets for frequently typed text.
